Planting Trees with The Tree Foundation of Kern
The Tree Foundation of Kern is a small local nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of sustainable urban and community forestry. Our mission is to provide a better shade canopy in our county, beautify our local landscape, help improve our air quality and educate our citizens about trees, their benefits and their care.
How do we do this?
Through the generosity of Members, Doners, and the support of local community members such as The City of Bakersfield, Bakersfield College and several corporate sponsors we are able to provide
- Volunteer planting programs for schools, cities, and parks throughout the county
- Free classes for the general public
- Promote proper pruning (International Society of Arboriculture standards)
- Advocate for ordinances that protect trees in both the public and the private sector
- Tree care, planting advice and tips
- Major civic projects such as the Commemorative Grove revitalization program
Here you will find guides to planting and caring for trees, how to participate in one of our programs, how to give a Memory Tree as a gift, volunteer opportunities, links to related web sites, and how to become a member.
